Course Overview:

This short but focused weekend course is designed to teach the technical foundation of draping on the stand. Ideal for those who prefer working in 3D or want to enhance their understanding of garment construction through hands-on techniques. This course is purely technical, with small elements of creative draping elements — ideal for beginners or those seeking to sharpen core draping and pattern translation skills. Each person is given tailored support dependent on where they are at on their draping journey.

What You’ll Learn:

  • The technical approach to draping garments on the stand

  • How to create a basic bodice and skirt block using fabric. Progressing on to more complicated garments and incorporating creative draping based around technical ability.

  • How to mark, true, and transfer draped fabric into accurate paper patterns

  • Pinning, balance, grainline, and toile fitting principles

  • Understanding dart manipulation and shaping techniques
